Shelby Crossings Christian School was established in 2007 as a legal church school to meet the growing need in our area of a school which did not have extensive paperwork requirements and expensive fees. We are primarily a covering for homeschool families, striving to be available for those who are new to homeschooling through graduating seniors, offering encouragement and support throughout your entire school journey. We offer many opportunities for socialization through park days, field trips, support group meetings, and community service projects.
Shelby Crossings Christian School exists as a legal covering for families who have made a home-based education choice. We take seriously the commitment to teach our children at home as more than just an academic endeavor, but as an opportunity to enrich our entire family life, with the Bible as our foundation.
We believe that God has given the Christ-following community an ideal environment to share His Word and Biblical values, as well as any other subject, through like-minded families cooperating together to offer areas of expertise.
We commit to provide opportunities for relationship building and ministry within the family, the church, and the community. We also will encourage families with spiritual and academic opportunities that support their homeschooling goals and encourage God-honoring excellence.
The Scripture that is our example and reminder is Deuteronomy 6:4-9:
"Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."
SCCS has always had a policy of minimal paperwork requirements so that families can focus on educating their children and not turning in various records and plans to the administrator. We have kept our requirements simple, in line with what the state requires. The Church School Enrollment Form is the paper that must be signed by parents and countersigned by the school administrator, and then submitted to the family’s local school district superintendent. The only other item required is a record of attendance. Tuition is $120 annually.
