General Description:

St. Peter’s Academy operates as a ministry of the Church and serves Catholic families in the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama, USA. This is an association of families who work together to provide formation and education of their children in a home centered environment.


Membership is open to families where at least one parent is Catholic and the children are baptized. Catholic religion is to be taught each day as part of the program of study, assistance in acquiring or locating curriculum to meet the needs of each family is provided upon request, and the parents are recognized as having the responsibility of educating their children so that they may become good citizens and be prepared for heaven.

Number of school days required is 160, with teacher work days and absences allowed. Progress reports and attendance are submitted at the conclusion of the school year. Further record requirements are to be met for high school. The school does provide transcripts for students.

For membership, initial meeting required and approval by the St. Peter’s School Board is to be obtained prior to admission and enrollment of students.


The school does provide transcripts, diplomas, dual enrollment opportunities available with cooperating schools; support is provided and St. Peter’s has a list of families who provide various support and service information and help when requested.


Membership fee is $40 for the family for each year. Along with the membership fee (discounted) for HSLDA, the only other expense for the family is the cost of materials.
